Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Program
Our Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) program is built on the principle that every child can learn. We apply the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to help integrate children presenting with academic, behavioral, social, emotional, sensory, attention, or language concerns into their home, school, and community environments. The goal is always successful participation in all daily activities and socializing with as much independence as possible. All Preschool Studio SEITs have extensive training and experience in child development, instructional strategies, behavior management, and coaching families and teachers for consistency and carryover of skill practice across settings and caregivers.
At school we seamlessly blend into the classroom to provide the support needed for the child to successfully participate in all class activities and socialization with as much independence as possible. A SEIT provide models, cues, and prompts, as needed, and works with the classroom team to help modify the environment and instruction, such as adding visuals and sensory activities to ease transitions and to facilitate auditory processing, self-regulation, and attention. Our SEITS have extensive training in child development, behavior management, and teacher coaching.
At home we target specific skills to facilitate increased independence at school and increased fluency with the daily routine at home. We work closely with the family to evaluate the needs and goals and then create and implement a customized action plan using positive behavioral strategies and supports. We demonstrate what we're working on for carryover of practice outside of sessions and work with the family to add structure the daily routine, set limits without creating power struggles, and incorporate supports, such as visual cues, and positive behavioral support procedures and strategies, like Shaping, to support the child's progress on goals and decrease anxiety throughout the day.
